Biographical details—Tamsyn Harvey
Tamsyn Harvey is Deputy Secretary for the Justice and Communities Group of the Attorney-General’s Department.
The Justice and Communities Group has responsibility for advising the government on policy and managing programs relating to:
- First Nations justice
- native title
- legal assistance services
- justice system responses to sexual assault
- courts and tribunals
- commercial and copyright law
- family law
- child and family safety.
Before her current role, Tamsyn held executive positions in the department as well as the ACT Government and the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity.
Tamsyn sits on the Council of the Institute of Public Administration Australia, the National Judicial College of Australia and the Australasian Institute of Judicial Administration.
Tamsyn is our Indigenous Champion. She works with our Indigenous Employee Network and broader departmental staff to promote the recruitment, retention and inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff within the department.
Tamsyn has Bachelor of Arts from South Australia’s Flinders University and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Adelaide.
