The 2021-2022 review of the Legislation Act 2003 found that the objectives of the Act continued to be met and that the Act remains fit for purpose as an overarching general framework for the management of Acts and instruments, and in upholding the rule of law by ensuring that the law is understandable and predictable, and providing appropriate mechanisms for elected representatives to scrutinise executive decision-making.
The Review Committee also made a number of recommendations, including legislative amendments, to enhance the current framework.
