This paper sought views on possible arrangements for a National Register of Enduring Powers of Attorney (the National Register).
A mandatory national registration scheme for enduring powers of attorney relating to financial matters has been proposed as one way to reduce the financial abuse of older Australians (see, for example, the Australian Law Reform Commission’s 2017 report ‘Elder Abuse: A National Legal Response’).
The consultation closed on 30 June 2021.
