Singapore Convention on Mediation

Closing date

In October 2020, we held a public consultation on the Singapore Convention, seeking views about the law and policy matters it raised.

This included whether:

  • it is in Australia's interest to become a party to the Singapore Convention
  • it is necessary or desirable for Australia to make reservations to the Convention
  • there are any concerns with the practical operation of the Singapore Convention, such as its definitional approach to mediation or its exceptional grounds for refusing enforcement.

We developed a consultation paper to guide this process and invited public comment on the topics raised.
