Australia's Position
The Australian Government continues to support Indigenous institutions providing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy. More information can be found on the Indigenous Advancement Strategy on the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet website.
For example, since the National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples was established in 2009 it has been provided funding of $32.1 million to support its engagement and advocacy of behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
