The Australian Government is committed to ensuring detainees in immigration detention are provided with high quality services commensurate to Australian standards and that the conditions in immigration detention are adequate. The Australian Government works closely with its service providers to ensure immigration detainees are provided with adequate accommodation, infrastructure, medical services, security services, catering services, programmes, activities, and communication facilities. Detainees who are unsatisfied with the conditions in immigration detention can raise concerns in person with Australian Border Force officers and service provider staff, or in writing or by telephone with the Department of Home Affairs or external scrutiny bodies.
People in immigration detention are accommodated in facilities most appropriate to their risk, circumstances and needs. Services are developed to suit each individual's needs. The Australian Government is committed to respecting and upholding the inherent dignity of every person in immigration detention. Ensuring the conditions in immigration detention are adequate and that services are delivered to a high standard.
