Publication date

The 2022 National Plan to Combat Cybercrime was released on 21 March 2022 and builds on the previous 2013 version. The National Plan framework identifies three key pillars around which to focus future action and support the development of a nationally coordinated approach to combating cybercrime in Australia:

Pillar One: Prevent and Protect, which focuses on safeguarding Australians, our businesses, government systems and our national interest. This pillar captures cooperation with international partners to enhance global responses to cybercrime.

Pillar Two: Investigate, Disrupt and Prosecute, which focuses on strengthening criminal justice responses, including ensuring our cybercrime laws remain fit for purpose.

Pillar Three: Recover, which focuses on empowering victims to recover from cybercrime.

The 2022 National Plan complements existing strategies related to cyber threats and cyber-enabled crimes. The framework outlined under the key pillars will support the development of a nationally coordinated approach to combating cybercrime in Australia.
