Australia's Position

The Australian Government has considered the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and is not intending to become a party at this time.

Australia already has international human rights obligations prohibiting conduct covering enforced disappearance and provides protection against enforced disappearances in its criminal law.
