Office of Legal Services Coordination

The Office of Legal Services Coordination (OLSC) supports the Attorney-General in the performance of his First Law Officer role. This support includes providing advice on litigation policy and the rules allowing outsourcing of most of the Commonwealth’s legal work. OLSC is also responsible for administering the Parliamentary Entitlements Regulations and for advising the Attorney-General on bankruptcy and personal insolvency (jointly with the Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia).

Our areas of responsibility

The Office of Legal Services Coordination (OLSC) is a branch of the Legal Services and Personal Property Securities Division of the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department.  OLSC supports the Attorney-General in the performance of his First Law Officer role.

Functions relating to legal services:

  • Legal Services Directions/legal services policy
  • legal assistance to Ministers
  • legal profession policy
  • Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department legal services arrangements 
  • support to the Solicitor-General

Other functions

  • bankruptcy policy, jointly with the Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia
  • personal property securities law
